Replacement Device – I was having issues with my Verizon connection and being told by VZ’s service desk that they suspected it was a “hardware issue”, this device was a replacement for my 4 year old one. Brand new, in the box, exactly like my old one! Very simple to call VZ support and have them code it into my account. Setup took less than 10 minutes. Unfortunately, I now know that mine is not a “hardware issue” but rather a “network issue.”

When I went to register they told me the only available plan was $80 for 5g good for 30 days – I was told by Verizon that the programs available were $60 for 3g and $90 for 10g. When I went to register they told me the only available plan was $80 for 5g good for 30 days. I was given contrary information on the phone. I will look for another way to get internet when traveling.

For the moment – Got this for my girlfriend to use for school and her job. Unfortunately the plans are a lot higher than what they should be in my opinion, so we switch to Time Warner Cable. For the same price of the 5 GB plan, she now get unlimited.

Not a smart purchase, unless you really need it – The one I received had no prepaid time on it. I had to pay another 69.69 to get one month of Internet, with average dialup speed. Not a smart purchase, unless you really need it.

“Ya pays yer money an’ ya takes yer chances…” – Item as advertized, so far as it went, but seller should have noted that these Novatel devices from “unofficial” vendors are no longer supported by Verizon under their “regular” prepaid services system – The modem needs to be specially (i.e. manually) registered under its serial number (ESN), and it may take a while to locate a customer rep who understands the procedure. Once set-up and “charged”, the prepaid account also is “special”, and cannot be managed/recharged under Verizon’s current web sites, or its own utility software (VZ Access Manager), or their IVR system for automated payments. Recharging these accounts requires direct interaction with a customer rep (available at 800-786-8419 – select “tech-support”).

Good and useful product but hard to configure – I bought this mainly to have a back up internet connection at home because I work from home on a regular basis and need access 24×7. When my ISP goes down the world simply collapses. So, with this tool I can have it handy when my home internet goes down and I can also use it when travelling. The main negative thing about this is the fact that it is a pain to install at first and the box comes with no instructions.
