LAN line adapter. – Most newer thinner lap tops don’t have a dvd drive or even a LAN line plug from the factory now. This adapter works great. I wished it had color choices so I could match it to the pc, but that’s not a real big deal. You just plug the LAN line in and then plug usb connector into the pc and you are done. Sometimes I have to unplug and replug mine in so that the internet makes connection, but I don’t think that has anything to do with the adapter, just a timing issue cause it always works. The only thing that it really needs is a thicker more robust cable between the adapter and the usb connector. If your not careful I could see an issue with breaking the wires in the cord between the adapter and usb connector. Other than that, it’s a great device and has not let me down yet.

I was originally using a labtop and it allowed me to connect to the internet however it was very unstable and my system would always have connection issues. Did the job for the most part… – I was cautious about buying this adapter due to all the negative reviews regarding poor materials, faulty connectivity, and generally having a very short lifespan, but for the price and needing to get my laptop hardwired to the internet fairly quickly, I ordered it anyway. It arrived the next day. The packaging was flimsy and the plastic body didn’t feel as sturdy as I would like, but the joints weren’t loose and wires weren’t showing as others had reported. I had to push my ethernet cord real hard into the end of the adapter so I could hear a click because there was no sign of hardwire connection until then. It is true that if you move the cord around alot you’ll lose connection, but if you keep it still it works continually. I haven’t seen any red light indicator to show it’s connected to the internet, but I just look at the indicator on my computer. This was a good purchase for a quick hot second emergency use, but definitely buying a higher quality more expensive adapter for the long haul.
