So Far So Good! – I installed this yesterday, so I don’t have a long term opinion yet. I had previously tried the Nighthawk system, which was difficult to install. I followed the instructions to the letter several times, and it wouldn’t connect until it just DID. All seemed well for a few days until both of my Roku devices bricked. They were showing connected, but still wouldn’t work until I disconnected the Nighthawk and went back to my original set up. This left no signal to the end of the house with my Ring cameras, and that isn’t acceptable – so back to the drawing board with this Reyee system. The set up was so easy I thought I had missed a step. The instructions aren’t very detailed, and it had me nervous – but there really isn’t much to instruct. It is literally plug and play. The signal is strong throughout the entire house. The units are a bit large, but look very sleek and modern, so I don’t mind a bit. Much better than all the ugly sore thumb looking white hubs that are on offer. The app isn’t as slick as the Nighthawk, but who cares? This thing looks good and works great! Very happy so far…

Probably works for many users – I’m writing this mostly negative review with a big caveat: it probably mostly works for most users. That said, there’s some deceptive stuff here. I bought the router wanting to get some of the benefits of OpenWRT (or similar) but on a wifi 6 router. Some of the reviews/answers here mention specifically that it runs OpenWRT. The good news is that it does run some flavor of OpenWRT. The bad news is that it’s a heavily modified version of OpenWRT and a particularly bad one. I immediately ran into 2 issues that diverge from “stock” OpenWRT:

Quality Mesh System at a Fair Price Range… – Like most people in my demographic I was in the market for a “Set It and Forget It, mesh wireless system”. We first gave the Amazon brand a try (twice), you either love it or hate it and the latter was true for us! Over the years I’ve tried every major name brand and either their firmware is horrible or they try so suck you into some type of “Pay To Play OR Pay Wall “ gimmick to use everything they advertise! Then I saw the Reyee RG-R6 Mesh System on sale and decided it couldn’t be any worse than what I just returned to Amazon…

Mesh Router software must be at same version as Mother Router – I use this R6 as a mesh router with the Reyee WiFi 6 Router AX3200 as the Mother. It works perfect. You have to make sure the software versions are the same in the management screen – App or PC. It’s easy to do and it will reboot itself. Wait about 10 minutes and everything will function under one SSID. Works great and the price is right.
