Very Good Modem / Router – This is a very good router. One of our network guys at work recommended NETGEAR to me. Our router was about 5 years old and getting slower by the minute. I was considering upping out internet speed package. My guy said to upgrade the modem router, I decided on this one and I am glad I did. This one is so much faster and was a snap to set up and get up and running.

Beware this does not include a modem – Be careful, this does not have a modem although it comes up in the Amazon search box when you search for one with a modem. I ordered the correct one; same day delivery, simple return. Easy Peazy.

modem router – I had some trouble installing as its a little different then my last ones have been. Finally got it working after phone calls to Xfinity but now TV doesnt pick up the WIFI so I havent set that up yet

Could’ve probably got this at Staples – If you use it for Cox, you should plan on leaving it running for at least 15 minutes before trying to configure it. Take note of the serial number and MAC address, so that if it doesn’t activate right away, you have that handy for support. On top of that, you will need to log in to the router at the end to make sure the internet connection works. Otherwise, you will get connection errors, even if you get the online light on. You could probably get this at Staples, the box will show ‘Nighthawk AX6’ and ‘AX2700’ on the front, but there will be a small sticker by the barcode that should say ‘CAX30’. It needs to be an exact match. You can’t just get one in the same ‘range’. Works fine, and I can configure advanced settings like I planned to

A hot mess of a modem-router with a lot of potential! – Update #2 (11/14/2021): I’m keeping this one short and sweet, as I’ve updated and re-updated about 10 times now and it’s past the point of annoying. The CAX30 still randomly drops connections, even after updating the firmware as outlined in my previous update from June. While the drops in wireless connectivity are semi-rare, drops in connectivity with my wired devices are much more frequent. The persistent issues with the CAX30 are now unbearable, and Netgear’s lack of support and snail-paced firmware updates have really soured my once-favorable opinion about their products. No new firmware has been released since the last update I posted 5 months ago.

Combo modem router – I chose this modem router combo because it was compatible with my ISP. It works well, BUT it took me several hours to get it operational. Several phone calls to the ISP and NetGear tech support were required to get the unit working properly. I am sure that some of the timing was related to my lack of sophistication but I did not expect to have to spend so much time on this.
