a must for rural users without other options – This is a long one, so here we go. I’m an AT&T customer who lives in a wooded rural area. We do not have any other internet or satellite options where. We have used the mobile Hotspot data on our phones for streaming and gaming, basic computer stuff. We do not have unlimited Hotspot data and every month we max out and our speeds are cut to nothing, can’t even open an email. We do have an unlimited mobile data plan and here’s where we found a grey area. An AT&T rep gave me this advice when I recently upgraded my cell phone and complained about our internet situation. He recommended this device to me. It was cheaper on Amazon than anywhere else. Plus I can send it back if it doesn’t work for me, Prime has a fantastic return policy. This is what I did:

Make sure you’re hotspot needs won’t extend outside of the USA. Could not connect to AT&T!! – The first point is that these units are specific to regions. This one works in the USA, but if you want to take it to Europe, no joy. You need a unit specific to that region. The other VERY important thing to know is that AT&T will no longer support unlocked devices like this one. I took the unit to my local AT&T store to purchase a data SIM. With the activation fee, it cost me a bit over $50 USD. I had them install the SIM and set it up for me. After nearly 2 hours, they still couldn’t get it to work on their network. Finally a call to their back office revealed that this UNLOCKED device is no longer supported. They suggested that I purchase a locked device from someone like BestBuy. I tried that, but they were out of stock and on back order. The kid at BestBuy suggested I try the T-Mobile store, since the device is supposed to work on their network. So off to T-Mobile. It took all of 10 minutes to set it up, and confirm that everything worked, It was much cheaper as well, about $20 for 3 GB. Sadly, AT&T REFUSED to refund my money for this pre-paid SIM (which they could never get to work). I made multiple phone calls to different departments within AT&T, and was met with a dead end every time. I’ve had to protest the charge with my credit card company, and am awaiting the result. AT&T IS EVIL!! Once I got it connected to T-Mobile, the unit worked beautifully.

This antenna does improve my data speeds and some signal levels – ***Long write up about this antenna and it’s testing***

Works for me so far – Our ATT wifi signal strength had gotten so bad recently that it was disconnected more than up, and we have few options where we live. This antenna has improved our signal substantially so far. Only had it for a day but things are working much better. Will replace it with Starlink once that’s available next year, but if things continue this antenna was a good purchase for us.

      – I have to say that I was disappointed, considering the price mine was splitting apart when I got it as it wasn’t glued properly, the signal was increased by 1 db witch I have to say it was a joke, you get better signal from a £10 antenna, and I know what I’m taking about as I have quite a few omnidirectional and directional antennas..
