Good router, but a few features missing – This router is outstanding in its performance and range, and I know Linksys intended it to be easily set up by using the app, but making it really the ONLY way to set it up is frustrating. You have to dig to find out how to set it up simply by connecting to it, and there are two key features missing:

Works as advertised – I had a Linksys EA6890 AC router for the last 6 years. For the most part, it did function well, but lately the signal to my Roku was not strong enough to prevent occasional freezing. Interference from my neighbors wifi was also contributing to this problem. I figured I needed just a little stronger wifi so I bought this router. It appears to have solved the problem and every device connected, even the N and AC devices, now have significantly faster connections. It is also a bit more of an intelligent system, able to analyze the wifi (by using the Linksys app) and picking the best frequency and channel automatically (my old router usually required me to decide which settings to use, which I had periodically change due to the neighbors wifi changing channels).

Great upgrade for the price. – Better distance and speed than my old WRT1900ac. Simple to setup, skipped the phone app and connected direct wired to 192.168.1.1. Had to reset the admin password using the tag on the bottom. Make sure to do a firmware update…. no problems yet.

Great integration with Velop 5 mesh – I had a Linksys Velop wifi 5 mesh, running it in bridge mode to provide a large area with wifi coverage. The network was using an Asus router with it’s wifi turned off as the only router, with the Velop mesh for all the access points. That worked well, except in bridge mode, the guest network actually wasn’t separated from the primary network, so guest users could access devices on the primary network if they knew how to do that. And I got a new phone that supports WiFi 6. So I bought this router and successfully replaced my old router. The configuration went pretty smoothly.
