Best DOCSIS 3.1 for the money – Weird how the Feature Ratings asked about wi-fi signal as this is only a modem. This modem is rock solid and I’ve had it for almost a year. Simple setup with Comcast using your phone. I have it paired up with an Asus router and never have any issues. Getting over 900 down and 50 up which is a huge improvement over my older DOCSIS 3.0 modem as it has a lot more channels. Make sure your internet plan supports these higher speeds or you will be wasting your money.

Seems to work just fine – So, it’s easy to install and get going. The bootup process takes about 80 seconds. The only real issue I had is that the first one I got had some intermittent connectivity issue where, while it was connected to the internet, it would not always provide an IP address to a router I plugged in. It was inconsistent. It would be working fine, and then I’d have to reboot for something, and then for the life of me, I couldn’t get it to give my router an IP. Super frustrating. It took a while for me to be relatively sure it was the modem and not the router. But, once it started doing it also on an older router I had which I knew to be rock solid, I called up Amazon via the support number they provided, and they quickly shipped me an additional refurbished unit. This new device worked immediately and seemed very robust to unplugging and reconnecting the ethernet or powering off and powering back on and still putting out IP addresses. I’m very happy. Glad it came with a 90 day warranty.

Spectrum setup – Called Spectrum to setup, upgraded from 70kbps to 300kbps at no extra cost. 500kbps is $20 more. Gave them the Mac address and rebooted 2 times then tested. Everything seems to be working great. Getting 200 to 300kbps and 7 to 10kbps up. Now I’m set to upgrade in the future. Also got a few routers to test out to see what works best.

Replacement – Purchased to replace spectrum’s modem. Could not get it to connect to my router. After 2 calls to tech support they said it was my router. Finally the new modem works w/o problems

Had trouble with xfinity – Bought for xfinity install at my parents house. My parents had cable years ago and switched to DSL because it was cheaper at the time. However cables bandwidth increase with price staying flat so my parents wanted to switch back. Order this modem because it is compatible with xfinity and is good for downloading speeds faster than the plan my parents got 600mbps and they wouldn’t be spending money every month renting a cable modem. Xfinity sent a technician to reconnect the house cable and set up the cable modem. The technician informed my parents the cable modem I bought couldn’t be recognized by Xfinity and wouldn’t work. Luckily I had another arris cable modem a bit slower than this one but I knew it worked since it was the one I just replaced at my house with a faster one. Later that week I went over to my parents house and using the Xfinity app was able to get the Arris SB8200 rb working with the cable and the connection is pulling about 850mbps. I believe the technician was messing up the Mac address when calling in the cable modem. The address had Bs that looked like 8s. After getting modem running I couldn’t be happier.
