– I got this drive reletivley quickly and like other posters here I found the setup a little tough to get through even though I consider myself somwhat techy. When all was setup I was very happy with the drive until I tried to remote view a movie. This could have been my perceived expectations which is my fault for not doing my homework, when I watch a movie from my WD live media player over my network at home through WIFI, it playes great. But when I try to watch something outside of my network from somewhere’s else other than my house, it seems that I must download the whole movie or video before it will play. I just wanted others who might not be aware of this who are buying it to stream movies. This is particularly painful when your movies are 2+gigs.

Good features, Bad performance – Overall: This comes nicely plugged with functionality. It does work, but seems a tad buggy and fails to perform well at all.

– Easy to install, quiet as a mouse (not that kind of mouse) and really fast. I was recovering from a crashed Iomega drive, which has been problematic for some years. I have found that WD drives are bullet proof, other than some software issues with one version of their passport drives.

– got 1,only ones I’ve ever used, never had any issues with them in the 5 years of owning my first one, anyone writing negative reviews, probably messed up the set up,I did, once I figured it out,I’ve never had a problem,I don’t use any of the features, from what I’ve read, not too many do,great for streaming audio/video on my home network, also have a regular 2tb,everything I own is backed up twice.have 4 3tbs,2 network drives & 2 regular drives as well

Great for Mac Time Machine, Not sure about Windows Backup – We have had this drive for less than a day, but I spent a good deal of time working with it. I purchased this for a home backup storage system as well as a remote file storage system to offload some files from the local computers. Yes, this is a bit redundant, but considering the difference between 1TB & 2TB was only about $30, I strongly suggest going big. If you’re going to make a $100+ investment anyway, the added cost is well worth the options that the 2TB provides.
