The perfect replacement for mybroken NAS – All I had to do was remove the 8 drives from the broken NAS and place them in the new shell. It really was that easy. The new NAS handled it from there.

Fantastic Interface Abundant storage – Love the new DSM7, which my older Synology (7 years old!) could not get, much faster processor, huge capacity (only using 4 of 8 bays to begin with). Definitely need to upgrade memory (easy). Synology continues to produce great systems.

Longtime loyal Synology customer – Synology makes great NAS’es. Not just performance, but nice features and admin UI. This unit replaced a 5-bay unit that was quite old (10 years?) when it finally stopped working. I was able to upgrade to this slightly larger box, move the drives over, and was back up and running in no time.

Excellent Product – It Works

Terrible performance (borderline useless) – This was my third Synology DiskStation.

A GREAT upgrade! – This is my fourth 8-disk Synology DiskStation since 2014. My last one was a DS1817 which included two 10-gigabit Ethernet (RJ45) ports, and you can bet I aggregated those links on my (very expensive) Ubiquiti US-XG-6PoE and had 20-gigabit between this and my primary FreeNAS server.

Great NAS! – I owned a 5 Bay Drobo and though it was great however when it started to have issues after 9 years of constantly running. I could find another Drobo to purchase anywhere so did my research and settled on Synology.

Just Works – SUPER easy to set up and has really just worked. I’m using this for Plex, TimeMachine backups of my macs, and a Synology Photos. Its great at everything i’ve thrown at it.
