Easy as Pie – Like most here I got tired of paying the $13 a month rental for the Comcast gateway. The Arris gateway provided by Comcast also created a problem for me whenever we experienced a power outage. I sometimes took up to 3 hours for the Arris to sort itself out and allow me an internet connection even though it would let me connect to the gateway.

Does the job – So far so good, I’ll say it’s better than other modems and routers

Beautiful magic box on tv stand – Beautiful and permanent. My wifi speed increased from 130Mbps to 450 Mbps. Strong signal through out the house and no clutter as it is a combo and router. Happy with the purchase. The device is small and cute fits into any place

Best Cable-Modem Router for Xfinity – Have had years of experience with similar devices by other manufacturers. Netgear always lasted till the warranty ran out and then failed. The Motorola MT8733 is pricy but you get what you pay for in these combo devices. Super stable so far (not a single reboot or dropped wifi), extremely fast WiFi. Perfect voice for VOIP/Xfinity voice landline. Easy setup (it’s more than the 10 minutes some claim here, but is the fastest/easiest setup in 20 years of using this kind of device). Motorola tech confirmed they will push firmware updates, in cooperation with Xfinity. My gut with Netgear failures in the past is that they just did not push firmware updates, and stopped working for that reason. I’ve read where more expensive modems can last 5 years or even longer, so the math works versus renting from Comcast for $14/month. Less expensive devices have lasted 2 years or so in my experience. I believe this is the best cable modem/router/voice modem out there. Will update my review if anything changes.

Sound Product With Full Features – I wanted a unit to use with xFinity for phone service and this product provides that feature. The router and modem are combined and I found the router to have less range than the Netscape unit it replaced. The modem is rated at 1GB plus and my service is rated at 1 GB however on a speed test, the highest reading I get is 650 NM download. While I am generally satisfied with the unit’s function and the cost was reasonable, the performance has not been as good as I expected from a Motorola product.

Great Wifi Modem/Router that works with Xfinity Bundle – So like many Comcast/Xfinity subscribers, we have a combo package with internet, phone and home alarm system (and the stupid flex box that could easily go in the garbage). We decided that paying $14/mon ($168/year) was too much money and decided to look for a solution. IF YOU DECIDE TO BUY YOUR OWN WiFi MODEM/ROUTER, MAKE SURE IT IS COMPATIBLE WITH YOUR INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDER (ISP). Otherwise, you will be getting a refund. After researching options, this was a good one for the price. It was easy to set up the phone and internet, but the home alarm system took more work. We called our Xfinity customer service and after getting through endless automated options we finally were connected to a knowledgeable human being who was very helpful. We had to input several codes directly into our alarm base which allowed us to search for new Wifi signals. Once there, it all has worked and we are very happy paying less money for our monthly service. Would highly recommend- 4.8/5 rating.
