Great product but… – I have knocked off one star from my google wifi review. Let me explain why.

Great product but… – I have knocked off one star from my google wifi review. Let me explain why.

Google WIFI, The Real Deal – Just thought I’d share some info. I know most if not all of us always hate those dead spots in the house with regards to internet and WiFi connectivity. I purchased up my service with a higher speed (500Mgbs) because I have up to 15 devices running at any given time. Gaming, 6 Smart TVs, 6 IPhones, 3 Mac Computers, 2 Alexa’s, my Security System, etc. It adds up fast.

Dual ethernet ports – This older model NLS-1304 has dual ethernet ports, which works well when you use ethernet to tie the bases together. Upstream is the source, and the second port I send it to a simple 8 port switch. I’m then able to add another router downstream. I have three in a row and all work fine. None are connected via wifi, although I have tried that and it works well. I use 300′ of outdoor rated cat 5e ethernet between each. The mesh works great, you set everything up over your smart phone. It’s best to have one as the first point, and the rest are secondary to that one. I also found a place that sells USB-C extension cables, so I’m able to power the unit from a longer distance away. I’m happy, saves me a lot of money in a customized wifi system, and I know how this one works. My fibre optic is rated for 1 gig and I get at least 185 mbps on all my connected devices, no matter how far away from the base station. Best part is that the mesh works and I can carry on a WiFi phone call without dropping, while walking from one end of our property to another.
