Easy, Fast, Good Range – I have used Google’s WiFi since their original Home product. Used the WiFi pucks, then Nest WiFi. Abandoned this product line for Netgear Orbi 850s when I moved to a larger house that Nest WiFi could not cover well. Boy, is it good to be back with Nest WiFi Pro!

Pretty disappointed – I was really, really, really looking forward to the Wi-Fi Pro as my first mesh system but am now returning it. Setup was good, had a couple issues connecting to satellites but not terrible. App is clean but limited compared to other systems with more customization. The huge negative is that every device on my network – wired or wireless – was limited to 50mbps on my 1gig fiber connection. That’s the biggest deal breaker. Probably just going to pony up for Orbi mesh instead.

Out of the box – disappointed – For the last 9 years, I’ve had the original Google Wifi and absolutely loved everything about them, speeds were great, wasn’t thrilled when they combined all their devices into one app, but it grew on me. In one of the updates, the speeds of each satellite broadcasting dropped significantly. Tirelessly worked with Google support and did a very time-consuming reboot of all devices and the speeds still weren’t that great. (Incoming was 950mpbs vs 200mpbs each satellite was broadcasting) Support said they would call back with the next steps… still waiting for that call. Fast forward to when the Pro was released. Users on Reddit were 50/50 about Pro, however, still gave it a shot. Received it on a Thursday and it was back in the box headed back to Amazon by Friday afternoon. Out of the box, the main router was only broadcasting speeds of 450mbps, could have called support but didn’t have the time. I’m sure the Pro is good if you don’t mind fooling around with support and having to do a factory reboot a couple of times, but I didn’t have the patience in me this time.
